Who
are the "nearest relatives"?
There
is a list of relatives in the Dependent Adults Act. They
are in order of precedence:
- husband
or wife;
- son
or daughter;
- father
or mother;
- brother
or sister;
- grandfather
or grandmother;
- grandson
or granddaughter;
- uncle
or aunt;
- nephew
or niece.
Generally,
in each class, the oldest person (e.g., the oldest child in a family)
will take precedence.
