Has
the Dower Act been changed by the Adult Interdependent
Relationships Act?
No.
The Dower Act gives a married person the right to live
in the matrimonial home and makes sure that the home
will not be mortgaged, sold or transferred without the spouse agreeing.
The Adult Interdependent Relationships Act has not amended
the Dower Act, so that this right still only extends to
those who are married.
