What if a person is convicted of theft under $5,000 as an indictable
offence?
A person
convicted of theft under $5,000 as an indictable offence could be
fined and or imprisoned for up to two years. As a matter of procedure,
however, the Crown rarely proceeds with such a charge as an indictable
offence, particularly if it is a first offence.
