National > Divorce > Federal Child Support Guidelines:

How do you figure out the income range for the paying parent?

The Guidelines contain very specific information about how to calculate the income range.

If the paying parent's income is from his or her employment only, then his or her current gross (before deductions) income is used.

If the paying parent is self-employed, has investment income, or has a complicated income situation for some other reason, then there are other rules that apply to these more difficult to calculate situations.
