What does a judge consider when deciding about "special expenses"?

A judge will consider

  • what is in the best interests of the children and how those interests might be met,
  • the reasonableness of the proposed expense, taking into account the parents' incomes, and
  • the family's pattern of spending before the marriage breakdown.
