National > Divorce > Federal Child Support Guidelines:

How can I be sure that I have accurate information about my ex-spouse's income?

The Guidelines say that spouses must disclose financial information to each other. This is critical to the use of the Guidelines. If a parent applies for child support, and their income is necessary to determine the amount of child support, he or she must provide the other parent with standard disclosure documents along with the application, setting out the applicant's financial situation.

The other parent must then provide his or her own disclosure documents within 30 days if their income is necessary to determine the amount of child support.
