What is a Canadian mission?

There are different kinds of Canadian missions abroad. It can be

  • an embassy,
  • a High Commission,
  • a trade mission, or
  • a consulate.

When a Canadian embassy is located in a country that is a member of the Commonwealth, like the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, the embassy is called the Canadian High Commission. In these questions and answers, we will use the term "Canadian mission" to cover all of these places.

You can find a list of all Canadian missions and embassies on the Foreign Affairs Canada website.
