What happened to the Industrial Disputes and Investigation
Act after the decision in the Snider case?
After
the Snider case decision, the
federal government amended the Act to state that it only applied
to matters that were not within the jurisdiction of the provinces,
but that it could apply in a national emergency and where a province
chose to use it provincially.
All
provinces except Prince Edward Island did subsequently pass laws
similar to the Industrial Disputes and Investigation Act
so that the same principles applied provincially.
