If custody is never final, how often will it be reviewed or changed?Realistically speaking, you or your ex-spouse will not likely want to rehash custody decisions often. These decisions are tough on everyone — both emotionally and financially. Also, judges do not want to review custody decisions unless there are serious and compelling reasons to do so. The test that the judges use is whether or not there has been a "material change of circumstances" that affects the best interests of the children.
