What happens about custody of our children as they get older?

As a practical matter, as children get older, it becomes more likely that they will strongly influence decisions about their custody. It is very difficult to make a teenager live somewhere he or she doesn't want to be! Judges find it difficult to enforce custody orders for older children. Your family may have to work out an arrangement that takes into account what older children want as well as what parents can live with.
