Is an uncontested divorce just decided by the spouses and their lawyers?
No, an uncontested divorce still requires a court order signed by a judge. A judge will look over the agreement that the husband and wife and their lawyers have worked out and will still have the final word about whether to approve or disapprove it. The judge will want to ensure that the deal is fair to both sides, and that if there are children, that they will be properly looked after.
