What if the judge doesn't think the divorce agreement is fair? Will this stop the divorce? The judge has the authority to send the agreement back to the parties for changes if he or she thinks that it is not fair. Once the judge is satisfied, then he or she will sign an order granting the divorce. In some provinces, this is done at a very brief court hearing. In others, such as Alberta, it can be done without any court hearing at all. June 2006 Back |
