What does the Curtain Principle mean?

The Curtain Principle means that the current certificate of title contains all the information about the title and it is not necessary for an interested person such as a potential purchaser to worry about any past dealings with the property. This does away with the need to search back through the history of a piece of property to be sure that the present registered owner has a good title. In other land title systems, it may be necessary to search back through all of the past titles to be sure of the validity of the present title. The Torrens system avoids this. It is possible, however, to ask for a historical search if you want to know who owned the property in the past.
