The Centre for Public Legal Education

Effective January 1, 2012, the Legal Resource Centre is operating as the Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta (CPLEA) to better reflect the LRC’s identity and purpose as a public legal education organization. The corporate name remains the Legal Resource Centre of Alberta.

The Legal Resource Centre's mission is to enhance the accessibility and quality of justice realized in Canada. It addresses its mission by creating learning opportunities and building learning communities that facilitate the creation, management, exchange, and integration of knowledge among people within the justice system and between them and the general public.

These FAQs cover the law at the time these questions were prepared. Every effort has been taken to ensure the accuracy of these FAQs. However, laws change and every situation is different, so do not take action using this information without consulting a lawyer.
