Where can I ride e-scooters in Edmonton?
You can ride e-scooters in the following places:
- bike lanes
- shared pathways
- roads with a speed limit of 50km/h or less
You cannot ride e-scooters on sidewalks or on park trails not maintained by the City (e.g., trails maintained by neighbourhood associations).

Where can I park e-scooters in Edmonton?
Generally speaking, you can park e-scooters:
- on sidewalks
- in parking lanes (except E-Park zones)
- on parkland
You must make sure the e-scooter is not blocking doors or travel along sidewalks and paths.
You cannot park e-scooters on the street or otherwise blocking cars or buses. You cannot park e-scooters inside public transit stations or on LRT platforms.
E-scooters should be securely parked in the upright position.

Can I take e-scooters on public transit in Edmonton?
Sometimes.
You cannot take e-scooters on public buses in Edmonton. The bike racks cannot hold e-scooters.
You can take e-scooters on the LRT outside of peak hours and on weekends or holidays. Peak hours are Monday to Friday, 7am-9am and 4pm-5:30pm. You cannot ride e-scooters through transit centres or LRT stations. You must walk your e-scooter through these centres and onto the LRT.

Where can I park e-scooters in Calgary?
You can park e-scooters in designated areas, such as:
- furniture zones of sidewalks (Furniture zones are the strip of sidewalk between the curb and pedestrian travel zone where street furniture and amenities are, such as lighting, benches, utility poles, bike racks and garbage cans.)
- public bike racks
- other marked parking zones
- on sidewalks without furniture zones but you must give at least 2 metres of clearance for accessibility.
You cannot park e-scooters against buildings, blocking doorways or pedestrian travel, in the middle of pathways or bicycle lanes, or on the street.
E-scooters should be securely parked in the upright position.

How old do I have to be to ride an e-scooter?
You must be 18 years old or older.

Can I ride an e-scooter while under the influence of drugs or alcohol?
No. You can be charged with impaired driving if you operate an e-scooter while intoxicated by drugs, alcohol or a combination of the two.

What other rules apply to e-scooters?
Use the bell on the e-scooter to alert others on bike lanes or shared paths that you are coming up behind them and will pass them. Always pass on the left.
Only one person can ride the e-scooter at a time.

No. The above rules only apply to e-scooters approved by the City of Edmonton or the City of Calgary.
