When can a child support order or agreement be changed?
A child support order or agreement can be changed if there is a significant change in the circumstances of one of the parents after the order or agreement was made. Some examples of significant change are:
- a parent making significantly more or less money;
- changes to the amounts that have to be paid for extraordinary expenses; or
- a change in parenting arrangements, for example, if the child moves to live with the other parent.

How do I go about changing my child support arrangement?
If you have an agreement with the other parent, you can try to negotiate a change. If you have a court order, you can see if you can reach an agreement with the other parent and then have the amount of child support changed by what is called a consent order. If you cannot reach an agreement, then you may have to go to court to have a change made.
